SendGrid launches new "Campaigns" email features

Marketing and transactional email platform SendGrid has unveiled a new set of features built for developers and designed for marketers—SendGrid Marketing Campaigns.

SendGrid sends 20 billion marketing and transactional emails out each month, and these new features are aimed at making life easier for email marketers. The new marketing email service includes engagement and list segmentation, an improved campaign workflow, subscriber management, A/B subject line and content testing, and robust campaign analytics, among other offerings.

"As we thought about the next generation of marketing email at SendGrid, we knew we had to go back to the drawing board, this time with a focus on targeted engagement and flexible campaign building," according to a SendGrid blog post announcing the new features. "After months of building and testing with customers, we are thrilled to share our latest innovation with the world."

SendGrid Marketing Campaigns' goal is to get more personalized email messages in front of the right audience at the right time. The new mass emailing features are meant to improve customer retention and acquisition, promos, company announcements and newsletters.

The new offering addresses marketers' desire to connect with large audiences in an automated fashion.

"Email marketers are increasingly turning to marketing automation vendors for greater segmentation capabilities and options to create detailed, trigger-based journeys to reach the right customers at the right times," according to VentureBeat. "Email marketing vendors have been responding by building out their own personalization-related features."

SendGrid Marketing Campaigns also continues the company's movement beyond the transactional email world, following the October launch of Threads by SendGrid, which allows marketer to more easily understand user engagement and to trigger behavior-driven audience communications.

"Historically, we've been focused on transactions," Jesse McCabe, SendGrid director of product marketing, told Marketing Land. "Now, we're building out use cases."
